Unix
Indosoft realizes that it must continue to strive to be on the cutting edge of the ever changing hardware and software technologies. Technologies include tape drives and disks (DASD or SAN-based) among the host of other peripheral features. Many Enterprises have cutover to the distributed systems technology in which platforms such as Windows NT and UNIX play a large role. In companies which require large-scale database for their ERP software handling, the choice is UNIX. For this reason, all members of IndoSoft’s UNIX staff are highly-skilled certified professionals that can handle all RISC-based hardware, and stay on top of administering the latest hardware releases with full access to vendor laboratory sites such as EMC, IBM, and Sun.
In addition to expected services from the UNIX area, several “value-added” service procedures have been formulated to provide world-class services to companies running UNIX as their enterprise operating system. These services are encapsulated as the Automated System Administration and Maintenance (ASAM) directive as seen below.
Automated
System Administration and Maintenance Directive (ASAM)
Server performance
This includes CPU utilization, memory/swap utilization, disk i/o
utilization, network i/o, etc.
3rd party tool administration/performance
This includes tracking error logs, cleaning obsolete logs,
maintaining resource consumption during peak utilization of the application,
checking critical UNIX processes that maintain a given application.
Backup management
This includes native UNIX backups,
using 3rd party tools (such as R/3 backups, IBM Sysback, IBM mksysb, Tivoli
TSM)
Open SQL Support
This includes supporting all DBA
SQL shells which support the database administration (Oracle / MS SQL-Server).
Support includes cleaning redo logs, checking table spaces, etc.
ERP management
This includes creating system
monitoring alerts for events, executing event-driven automated fixes, and
maintaining proactive maintenance for preventive measures
IndoSoft’s ASAM
directive uses UNIX shell scripts engine to
run/schedule by any enterprise workload scheduling
product to provide proper tracking, analysis, and
control of the automation process. The results
would post as SNMP information messages to an ERP
problem tracking system (eg. T/EC, Whats-UpGold,
Netview, etc…) The diagram below illustrates this
design.
